Change is a necessary facet of life. It is through change that we are able to grow, adjust, and fix problems as they arise. Changes transform us in such a way that they dictate the way we live life. Although people often fear change, change should be seen as a positive thing.
Acceptance of Change as to Self Reliance and Constructive Change
Sometimes, bad habits sprout from an unwillingness to accept change. Allowing these habits to take root in our lives usually leads bigger changes such as depression, physical ailments, and possibly even death.
Unwillingness to accept change is a problem of epic proportions because it not only affects the person struggling with the changes, but everyone around as well. A negative mood can quickly influence the moods of everyone close by.
If you desire to have a long, happy, fruitful life, you must be willing to go with the flow of the changes in your life. Life can flow harmonically if you welcome change with open arms. Problems are inevitable. You cannot run from them, hide from them, or avoid them. It is not how many problems you have or do not have that determine your quality of life, but rather how you react to them.
Because change has always had a negative connotation, people have always had a hard time dealing with it. To see change as an opportunity instead of a set back, we must change the way we think about it.
Maintain control of your emotions. Do not deny your emotions, but keep a tight leash on them. Do not let your emotions control you, but think with your head. When you are letting fear, pain, anger, anxiety, etc control your thoughts you will make faulty judgments and therefore make matters worse.
Your attitude about the change will have a direct impact on how you handle it. Do you see this change as a substitute for what you are used to or as an opportunity to grow and move to another level in your life? What good can come of this situation? Where can you go from here that will be a productive path for your life?
A common example is debt. Too many times, people think the changes that have to be made to remedy the financial burden are impossible because it will require major lifestyle changes, which scare them. However, a helpful tip may be just what you need to get the ball rolling towards debt reduction. There are many suggestions available on the internet or at the library that really would not make a major impact on your lifestyle, but will bring peace of mind and eventually lower debt.
One good way to learn to adapt to change is by starting to make gradual changes in your life. Start with something small like a new hairstyle. Maybe try an exercise plan or a new diet. Make a commitment to yourself and journal your progress. At the end of the first week, you will see a significant shift in the way you think about change (and you will probably feel better physically, also).
You could change your lifestyle by changing one of your rituals. Instead of turning on the TV when you first come home, try picking up the phone and calling a friend, going to hang out, hop on the
treadmill, or read a good book.
As you try new things and make minor changes in your life, you will be much more confident when the inevitable changes come your way. You will also notice a brighter outlook on life and you might even
be healthier
What you think dictates your actions. As you make positive changes in your thought process, you will notice that your actions will be more positive as well. Get your guide to search the soul.
