Super Typhoon Ondoy, A Teacher In A Mask For Those Who Desert Nature

The environment has its own way of making humanity recognize what we have done; and it was proven by what had occurred in the Philippines just a couple of weeks ago. Although the changes in the everyday climate was very obvious, it was not until the super typhoon “Ondoy’s” coming that the populace became conscious of the peculiar and massive difference. According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Ondoy was sorted as a category 5 super typhoon. The typhoon came into the Philippine area of responsibility and hit the land on September 29.  The wind was not very much disturbing; but it was the harsh and excess of rain that set off all the disaster and destruction of many regions in Luzon (one of the main Philippine islands). Evaluation illustrates that the amount of rainfall on that very same day was normally the average rainfall for a month; you can just imagine the quantity of water the sky had teemed on. Because of the immense amount of water, many community dams have to release the water they control for some had almost reached critical levels of teeming. This aggravated the situation for those who live nearby these dams.

The local government were not set for this kind of force majeure phenomenon. In a lot of areas, the water rose to knee, waist or chest level; but for several worst cases in low lands, the water sank down houses and establishments. Transportation was impossible. Transactions and businesses were frozen. Schools were sunk down and some were turned into evacuation centers. Soil erosion is happening making the flowing water mucky and the agricultural vicinities are nowhere to be found. Screams, sobs and fear are all over. The rain continued for several days until finally the rain had stopped and man was able to see clearly the damage done. Losing assets - houses, cars and businesses are somehow tolerable but the lost of a family member or a friend or of just someone you know is something that will make a mark in your memory forever.

It was not viable to contest the force of nature. Although even from the beginning up to the present that rescues and aids are seen everywhere, many lives were already lost and bodies gone astray, inexact when to find them or if they will ever be found. Nobody can impugn anyone for what happened; only that everybody discerns deep in their hearts that everybody was to be faulted and is guilty. This incident is really heartbreaking but it is the same episode that should teach everyone involved, or not, a priceless lesson that we all should take with us for the remainder of our limited lives. Our life and all about it is something we didn’t make out of our own and there is Somebody that is so wise who did, so why desert it?-cait
